fountains
While fountains are primarily used to add visual and auditory effects to a body of water, they must be designed to meet the specific environmental settings, depth and size of each individual body of water. A frequent mistake is purchasing a fountain that is too small for the depth & size of the water body. One of the largest misconceptions is that the aeration created by the fountain itself, provides beneficial oxygenated properties to the body of water. While fountains can provide aeration of surface water, it is not sufficient enough to help the overall water quality or to benefit the ecology of the water body. Any oxygen produced by the fountain can be depleted quickly and transferred out by the heat generated by the fountain motor. The main area impacted by the aerated water only extends up to a 10 foot diameter of the unit itself. If your body of water is in-need of a true aeration source, please visit our 'Aeration Unit' page.
